Line/Prep Cook
The Serving Spoon (Inglewood, CA)
The Serving Spoon, a third-generation soul food restaurant and James Beard America’s Classics Award winner, is hiring a Line/Prep Cook to join our kitchen team.
Schedule: 20 hours/week minimum
Responsibilities:
- Arrive on time and complete assigned opening prep (proteins, vegetables, starches, daily specials components)
- Work the line during service, maintaining speed and consistency
- Prepare and stock proteins and sides ahead of open
- Support daily specials prep
- Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safety-compliant station
- Communicate clearly with kitchen manager and fellow cooks during rushes
- Help with basic inventory and stock checks as needed
Qualifications:
- Prior line cook or prep cook experience preferred (soul food or Southern cuisine a plus) 3 years or more
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak service
- Reliable, punctual, and a team player
- Food handler’s certification (or willingness to obtain one)
- Comfortable with early morning shifts
